                                KICKING CONCEPTS


           Virtually   every   martial   arts
           practitioner has been instructed to,
           “Lift your knee!” to kick. Now, this
           is  great  advice  for  beginning
           students who are just learning how
           to   kick,   but   this   method
           perpetuates  as  teachers  continue
           teaching  this  method  for  kicking
           even as student advance in rank.
           I recently watched a YouTube video
           of  a  Grand  Master  with  over  60
           years  of  experience  and  was  the  founder  and  head  of  a  huge
           martial arts organization. He demonstrated a Front Kick using this



                        “The shortest distance between two points
                                      is a straight line”!




           same method! Now regardless of his rank, position, or stature, I
           would never consider telling or even suggesting that what he was
