BEYOND BASICS

“Collapsing” one hip joint will cause
           the other hip to automatically
           rotate.

Going back to the Reverse Punch
           example, “collapsing” the left hip
will cause both the center and
right side to both move in an arc
           forward producing a more desired
           result.

Expansion and Contraction is a Bonus concept which will also help
with the “Whip”, providing better structure for all of your strikes
and blocks, and is coordinated with your breathing.

…the “Whip” can increase both speed
                                  and power of techniques

Simply stated, Expansion is performed by relaxing the shoul-
ders while squeezing the shoulder blades. For example, with
an Inside to Outside Block, squeezing the shoulder blades will
pull both arms further back, elongate the spine for better
posture, and providing a stronger block by engaging the back
               muscles to enhance its power.

Contraction is relaxing the shoulder blades allowing the
shoulders to move forward. From the Expansion position,
