Over 130 sorors from Epsilon Gamma Omega were refreshed, renewed and
reinvigorated on August 12, 2017!!! With a focus on membership and
sisterliness, the 2017 EGO Chapter Retreat was a huge success!!! The
                                        Sister2Sister Subcommittee of the Membership
                                        Committee coordinated the event with
                                        assistance from the Sisterly Relations
                                        Committee.

bingo cards, door prizes, lunch and a question
and answer session marked the retreat. Each
participant was presented with a pen and notepad commemorating the retreat.

“One Pearl at a Time” was the presentation title of our featured speaker, Soror Mitzi Dease Paige, South
Eastern Region Representative to the International Membership Committee. Each soror was provided ribbon
and pearl. Soror Paige focused on recruitment, retention and reclamation. “Who are we recruiting?” and
“What does it take?” were two questions Soror Paige
posed regarding the membership intake process. We
were reminded to recommend women of high character
and already demonstrating a commitment to service.
She then transitioned to reclamation. “We must reclaim
                                                            those sorors who, for

                                                            there are persons, are no

                                                            TIME!” We were
                                                            encouraged to remind
                                                            sorors the pride and joy
they felt when they were initiated. The chapter was challenged to develop
incentives to retain member. She reminded us that each one of us as well as
mentors play an important role in member retention. Finally, Soror Paige asked
us to plan our very own AKA garden to ensure lifelong active membership! The
garden was to include lettuce (let us work together and welcome all sorors), peas
(be patient, present, prayerful), turnips (turn up for each other, committee
meetings), beans (be/an engaged and involved member) and squash (squash criticism, resentment and holding
