fridge would be empty, when our cupboards would be empty,
when our stewpots would be cooking rocks, when it was a
dead end, somehow miracles happened. It was during one
winter night when no one was at home except for me and my
mom. My brother was gone to Bahria Town to sell a file for
capital gains as the market was speculated to boom, my dad
was gone to Islamabad to sell our family house which
apparently was on stay from our step relatives and my sister
was gone to one of her clingy friend’s house for a sleepover;
that friend literally came to our house and seeked my mom’s
permission. Anyways, we were having some serious
discussion and praying that may God show us the path when
suddenly my mom had an urge to eat peanuts. A store near
our house called “Paradise Store” sold a pack of peanuts (250
gram) for Rs. 70. We had no money left in the house as few
rupees left were used to buy a Daewoo ticket for my father.
