ABSTRACT

This study aims to describe the implementation of StoryScan Card as an
instructional medium in history learning, analyze its influence on students’ learning
interest, and evaluate its effectiveness in improving historical understanding. The
background of the study is rooted in the issue of declining student motivation and
interest in history, which is often perceived as monotonous, memorization-oriented,
and lacking interactivity. The rapid development of educational technology offers
an opportunity to introduce innovative media that can enhance student engagement
                  and learning outcomes.
The research employed a descriptive quantitative method with questionnaires
distributed to 44 students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 6 Jakarta as respondents.
Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including calculations of mean,
median, mode, and response distribution. The results indicate that the average mean
scores for all items ranged from 4.16 to 4.57, falling into the good to very good
category. The distribution of responses was dominated by scores of 4 (agree) and 5
(strongly agree), reflecting students’ highly positive acceptance of the StoryScan
                  Card.
The findings reveal that StoryScan Card successfully enhanced students’ interest
and motivation in learning history. Students were more engaged, enthusiastic, and
actively involved in discussions through narrative-based interactive cards.
Furthermore, the medium proved effective in strengthening students’
comprehension of historical material. Presenting information through visual
narratives and segmented stories enabled students to better understand causal
relationships between events, improve memory retention, and reduce learning
fatigue. These results are consistent with previous studies that emphasize the role
of innovative media in improving learning quality.
In conclusion, StoryScan Card is considered a creative, relevant, and effective
instructional medium that not only stimulates students’ interest but also deepens
their historical understanding. It offers an alternative pedagogical strategy to
support the objectives of history education in fostering critical awareness,
appreciation of national values, and active student participation.
