Self-Check: Adding links to a page
Using the descriptions above add the pdf that you created earlier to a new block
somewhere on the Welcome page. If you did this as you worked through this
section then move on but go through it again if you want more practice.
Deleting blocks
It’s always useful to
know how to delete
something if you get it
wrong. If you create a
block and later decide
that you don’t like it
then go back into edit
mode, select the
block, and click on the
3 little dots on the far
right of the menu (top
arrow). The bottom item in the drop-down menu allows you to remove the block
(bottom arrow).
Tip: If you are using a Windows device then the usual Ctrl C, X, V, Y, and Z
shortcuts work.
Knowing how to delete is useful if you want to completely or almost completely
redesign a page as you can simply delete any blocks of information or media
that you don’t want to keep and then add some new blocks as you create your
new look page.
Self-Check: Deleting blocks
Delete the block containing the pdf that you just created. The Welcome page
should now be the same as when you first loaded it.
Achievements
You have done a lot in this workbook section. You have learned how to edit in
Site View, from the Dashboard menu, and from the Editor and you know how to
preview a page on another device as well as how to view the hierarchy of any
page that you are working on. You know the difference between Edit and Quick
Edit. You can create a new page, add links to a page, and you know how to
delete a block. These are all basic tasks that we’ll all be performing on our
websites post-migration. As you continue through this workbook you’ll be
building on these foundations. If you don’t feel confident about any of these
things then please feel free to go back and repeat any area you want to as many
times as you like. This is your website and your training and, within reason, you
can take as long as you need before moving on.
