IV. Microorganisms
Microorganisms as fungi and bacteria can be detected under
the microscope.
How to differ between urine specimen contamination and real
infection?
• The presence of numerous squamous cells can indicate
genital source of bacteria.
• the presence of bacteria with few leukocytes maybe due to
use of old specimen.
• Positive nitrite test and/or leukoesterase indicates real
bacterial infection.
