122 The Unforgettable Moments in Life

the the doors looking at all of the people loading things into the trucks. After Grandma’s

conversation with the guy from the loading dock, Grandma and James walked over to a truck

filled with chicken strips, breasts and nuggets. With a few people chatting next to it, she lets

them know she's taking it for the delivery. “Finally!” James muttered to himself. They got in the

truck and James was amazed by the look of it on the inside. As the truck rolled out of the parking

area, James looked out the window to see a golden sky and cotton candy clouds. “Where are we

going?” James just realized to ask. “Well, we aren’t going to a place, we are going to many

places across the country,” Grandma replied. Two hours later, James woke up to a few bumps in

the road. ‘Where are we?” James questioned as the sky had become jet black and the stars were

visible. “We are in Kansas” she replied, eyes locked on the road. James looked outside the

window. He could see the red lights on some windmills as they drove. James drifted back to

               sleep.

The next day, they made it into Colorado and were planning to cross the state by the end

of the day. The truck radio turned on alerting Grandma that a snowstorm was approaching. This

was bad news because they were in the Rocky Mountains. Grandma started driving faster to clear

the mountains before the snowstorm, but she was too late. A furious flurry of snow started to

pummel the truck. They didn’t worry about the snow; they worried about the iciness of the road.

Minutes later, the ice was making the truck slip. After driving on the icy roads, they had to

descend the mountain. This was the hardest part for them because of the truck's heavy load.

While descending the mountain, they had to drive slower than a slug, but they made it down the

mountain safely. Their next stop was Utah, so they stopped the truck to rest for the night. The
