172 The Unforgettable Moments in Life

                                                         Bowling

                                                       By Wyatt Maze

One time when I was about 13 or so, my family and I went to the bowling alley because it

was tradition for us to go every Saturday. The car ride was usually short because we lived close

to the alley. Once we arrived, it felt just like any other Saturday bowling trip. But little did I

know that I was in for a surprise. The inside of the bowling alley was kinda bright and flashy like

the 70´s. By flashy, I mean the bowling alley had a lot of bright colors. There were a lot of neon

colors, very much the opposite of the outside. The outside of the building was just a small brick

building. The only thing that was cool about the outside was the sign that said ¨Bowling Alley¨ in

bright neon colors. When you walked in, the smell of used bowling shoes and hot grease from

the little food court, located to the left as you walked in, hit you like a truck.

When you walk in there's this rubber mat with a bunch of little rubber pointy things to

dry your feet. It made a cool noise and felt kinda satisfying when you stepped on it. We had to

talk to the lady at the front to get our shoes. We would all step up and tell her the size shoe that

we needed to bowl. I got a 9½. After we all got the right shoes, we would go and pick out the

               bowling balls we wanted.

Each of us usually get two balls. Most of the time, I get two 10 pound bowling balls, but

this particular day something told me to get a 10 pounder and a 12 pounder. We started up the

game and took turns to bowl by age. My sister, Susan, would go first, then my brother, Tom. I

would go next followed by my mom. My dad would go last.

My sister bowled an eight her first frame. My brother bowled a nine his first frame. When

it was my turn I grabbed the 12 and when I bowled, I got a strike my very first frame. I was
