Pumpkin Dropping
By P. Starr
I grew up in Springdale in a three-bedroom trailer house with leather furniture and
pictures on the walls.
I elbow-dropped pumpkins at a Halloween party with my family. Nobody was dressed
up. It was just a regular party on Halloween. There were decorations of webs and spiders on the
porch. I had an idea to elbow-drop a pumpkin, so I did. Then I elbow-dropped another pumpkin.
The next morning I woke up and my elbow was hurting really bad. I couldn't move it. I
called my mom at work. I said, “I think my elbow is broken.” She knew what I had done, and
she said, “Yeah, probably. You were elbow-dropping pumpkins.” When my mom got home from
work, she took me to the doctor. The doctor x-rayed my elbow. The doctor said, “There's a small
crack in your elbow”. My immediate thought was I'm pretty dumb!
