166 The Unforgettable Moments in Life
I got back to our house carrying the basket of leaves as if it was an unbearable amount of
weight and bathed in my sister's reactions to the large pile of leaves. As we finished evenly
spreading all the leaves, our mom walked in and took a second to admire how good we did
before telling us that in just a few
minutes our family would arrive. My
sister and I were stunned to realize we
had spent almost 2 hours laughing and
playing while spreading out all the
leaves, but our confusion was quickly
replaced with anticipation as we
quickly got dressed in party attire for
the Christmas feast.
Slowly but surely, more and more of
our family and friends arrived carrying
presents to lay under the tree. As we
waited for Christmas to come, we sang,
danced, prayed, and of course, we ate the delicious food my parents and brothers prepared. After
the clock hits 12 o’clock and Christmas had officially arrived, we all eagerly exchanged gifts.
I received a pair of new sandals and a beautiful sun hat from my mom, and my sisters and
brother got earrings, dresses, soccer balls, and fishing rods. Once we all finished getting gifts and
said our goodbyes, we put the leftover food away, cleaned up a bit, and headed to bed.
