From First to Last
By Samuel Bulles
On Christmas Eve, I wanted to become the best dancer in the big, white church that I go
to. On a Saturday morning when the big hand of the clock hit 7 am, I started my day by eating
some breakfast that my mom made me that including pancakes, cereal, bacon, eggs, and some
orange juice. After I finished up, I went straight to my room and started to get ready to put on
my new pajamas, so I could get ready to open my present.
After putting on my new clothes, I went straight to the couch and waited for everybody to
be done so we could get started. After waiting for 15 minutes, they finally came out of their room
looking like twins because everyone had the same pajamas but not me. I wondered why I had
different pjs than my family. I paused thinking about if they really cared about me, but I didn’t
care because I was only there for the presents. The waiting got me hyped up because my present
was really big.
When they started to count down from three, my heart was pounding like I was about to
die. When they said number one, I ran everybody over like I was a raging bull. I was the first to
get my present, but when I looked back everybody's face
turned into the famous Angry Birds’ expression. When my
dad saw everybody on the ground mad, he told me to not
open the present until everybody was done opening theirs.
He told me to be last. I was really unhappy because being
last didn’t match my mood and the feeling sucked too.
