Christmas
By Gabriel Perez
I live in Springdale, Arkansas and I remember a particular Christmas when I was thirteen
years old. It was December 24th, 2020 and my family and I always try to spend time together
for dinner. It was a cold day when I woke up around 6 am. I stepped outside to see how the day
was, and it was pretty cold. I fed my dog, Lokey, some food. My dad, Jose, and mom, Carmen,
were awake when I got inside, and they asked me where I wanted to go eat. I didn’t know where
I wanted to eat, so I told them to ask my little brother, Josue, my little sister, Jessica, and my
older brother, Pedro, where they would like to go eat for breakfast. We decided to eat breakfast at
IHOP.
We got home around 11 a.m. and opened the front door to the smell of peppermint candy. I
went outside for an hour or two to hang out with Lokey. She is a Rottweiler mix. Around 6 pm., I
took a shower and the family sat down to eat dinner in the kitchen. After dinner, we all moved to
the living room and talked about what we wanted to accomplish next year. Eventually, we got to
the presents. My parents let us open one Christmas present on Christmas eve, Jose went for a
medium present from Pedro who got him a portable massager to put in his chair. Next, Carmen
went for the smallest present from Pedro. He got her a portable heater blanket for when she is
cold. Next, Pedro went for the medium present from Gabriel who got him surround-sound
speakers for his room. After Pedro, Gabriel chose her smallest present and got a laptop from
Jose. Josue went for his big present and got a bike from Carmen. Last, Jessica went for a big
present and got a big doll house from Jose.
