                                           The Night After A Quinceanera

                                                      By Gloria Lopez

The floor was newly cleaned, and the smell of Fabuloso was all over the now shiny

wooden floor. The atmosphere is filled with spices that warm the soul. The feeling of hunger, and

the sound of laughter, talking, and singing can’t be hidden within the walls of the house. Young

children were running around, messing everything up around the house. All the adults talked

about things that could really matter less to a teenager, and I was sitting alone on the soft and

comforting couch, eating my fruit and watching the disaster go down in the house.

I was blown away since the day before was one of the greatest days of my life. It was the

day after my quinceanera, and I had to clean the dirty cake and icing from the floors until three

in the morning. It almost looked like a ginormous monster had come and thrown all the cake on

the floor. My boots had sticky gum on them that could have made me stick to the ground if I

hadn't moved my legs up. The sound of the wet, flower-scented mop moving up and down the

ginormous floor surrounded me. I left the floor crystal clean. I was proud of myself. I had to

make sure everything was left spotless in order to get $800 back from the owner of the event

place. My feet felt like bricks, my body felt as if gravity was putting all its gravitational force on

me. I was ready for my bed, and the cloud sensation that I feel when I climb on top of the bed. I

always feel like I'm floating with the relaxation that waves through my body. Ahhhh! I couldn’t

               wait.

We were finally done, after two exhausting hours of cleaning. I felt as if we were never

going to finish, but little did I know the war wasn’t over yet. I still had to get home and get

cleaned up after a long, and energy-draining night. My dad left to drop my grandpa, and a few
