Role Description - Events Volunteer

Responsible to: The event organiser.

Purpose of role: The Events Volunteer helps to deliver high profile
cultural events in Greenwich, ensuring that
members of the public have a safe, enjoyable
experience.

Location: At various locations across the Royal Borough of
Greenwich

The Role:

• Be a friendly face and a positive ambassador for each event,
providing a warm welcome to visitors from all communities.

• Engage with the public by chatting with them and encouraging
visitors to get involved in the event and activities on offer.

• Answer questions from the public, give clear directions (to toilets,
transport links, entrances/exits, first aid points, etc) and
distribute maps and event information.

• Help to manage queuing systems and crossing points to ensure
that the experience is as safe as possible.

• Be the eyes and ears on the ground, alerting organisers and/or
police to any hazards or risks to public safety so that they can
respond.

• Help to set up before and clear up after events, eg taking down
signage and displays, packing away equipment, etc.
