Why do you need a role description?

The short answer is so that you see what is expected of you.
           Your role description tells you:
              • What your responsibilities will be
              • How much time is required for the volunteer position
              • Who you can talk to if they have questions or concerns,
              • What training will be provided for you
              • The length of time you are agreeing to volunteer for
              • Give you the boundaries of your role and responsibilities

           The importance of boundaries

Event Volunteers may be exposed to risks, members of the public may
also be exposure to risk and these are primary concerns.
Any organisation or event involving volunteers must implement good risk
           management.

Part of risk management is to provide you with a role description and
ensure you volunteer within the boundaries of the role
                                                                           10
