Areile Jowers
Romelee Howard Scholarship Recipient
Areile Jowers of New Haven, CT is a graduating senior at the Hill Regional Career Inter-district
Magnet High School located in New Haven, Connecticut. Areile has a 4.3 GPA and is a
consummate scholar and well-rounded student. Areile is a member of the National Honor Society
and the National Business Honors Society, Feminism Club (Vice President) and Debate Team.
Areile serves as a Peer Tutor, sings in her church choir and volunteers at the Downtown Evening
Soup Kitchen in New Haven. Areile receive the Youth of the Year Award from the National Council
of Negro Women (NCNW) and the CIAC Scholar Athlete Award.
Areile is described as a prepared, inspiring and a natural born leader and will attend Drexel
University on a full academic scholarship and study Architectural Engineering.
