1. 3-year starter for Waveland.
2. 4-year starter for Tony Hinkle @ Butler.
3. Inducted into the Butler Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999.
4. Head Coach @ New Ross, Danville, & Greensburg. Also served as Greensburg’s
Athletic Director for 27 years.
Jim Hammel
High School: Richmond (1935) College: Purdue (1939) Induction: 2008
1. Stand-out basketball player for Head Coach Bob Straight @ Huntington.
2. Accumulated 441 wins in a 31-year head coaching career (Dunkirk, Austin,
Mooresville, Lake Central, & Lafayette Jeff)
3. Led 3 teams to the State Finals (Lake Central 1984, Lafayette Jeff 1992, Lafayette
Jeff 1996)
4. Head Coach for the Indiana All-Star Team in 1993.
Dick Haslam
High School: Crawfordsville (1958) College: Butler (1962) Induction: 2012
1. Point Guard on Crawfordsville’s 1958 State Runner-up team.
2. Was named the Arthur L. Trester Award Winner in 1958 & was named to the
Indiana All-Star Team.
3. Played basketball for Tony Hinkle @ Butler & was captain of first Butler team to
qualify for the NCAA Tournament in 1962.
4. Won 120 games in 11 years as a high school coach @ Crawfordsville, Brownsburg,
& Maconaquah.
5. Selected to the 1983 Silver Anniversary Team.
Joe Heath
High School: Lafayette Jeff (1953) College: Purdue (1959) Induction: 1993
1. Stand-out basketball & baseball player @ Lafayette Jeff.
2. Played basketball @ Xavier, before transferring to Purdue to play baseball.
3. Won 295 games at Francesville, Winamac, Elwood, & Lafayette Jeff. His 1974
Bronchos reached the State Finals.
4. Served as Athletic Director & Principal @ Lafayette Jeff until his retirement.
