Midwest Conference
The Midwest Conference was originally formed in the Fall of 1932 by the administrators at 12 west central
Indiana high schools. The conference will disband after the 1946-47 season.
The Midwest Conference was re-formed starting with the 1955-56 school by administrators at Brook,
Brookston, Camden, Fowler, Kentland, Monon, Royal Center, and Wolcott high schools. Due to school
consolidation, none of the member schools that re-formed the conference in 1955 are presently in existence.
In the summer of 2013, Caston, Pioneer, West Central, & Winamac announced their intentions to leave the
Midwest Conference after the 2014-15 school year. Therefore, the Midwest Conference ceased to exist after the
2014-15 school year.
Beginning with the 2017-18 school year, the Midwest Conference was re-organized by Frontier, North
White, South Newton, and Tri-County, by adding North Newton and West Central to the Midwest Conference. All
sports fielded championships during the 2017-18 season. South Newton participated in all sports, with the exception
of football. Their football team will join the conference for the 2018 season.
