hours went by, who knew, but Ram was greeted with good

news. His mother had been found! Ram found his eyes full of

tears. He cried out from joy, hugging Muna.

And finally, she arrived. Ram’s mother. They had a teary reunion.

His mother had also been searching for him and had been as

helpless as Ram at a point, until the guards found her. Ram then

went on to explain how much Muna had helped him, someone

who was suffering so much herself. Ram’s mother was shocked

by the kindness. She smiled, realizing that humanity still had
hope. There were many people around the world who went out

of their way to help others, and these were the people who

would be the future of the Earth. These people were perfect

role models. And Muna, who was homeless herself, did not

drown in self pity, instead she worked to be better, and to make

the world a better place. Ram also understood this, but he

realized the sad truth. Among hundreds of people, only one was

like Muna. There were people who had ignored his cries of help,

people who did not care if he suffered, but right now, he had to

        focus on the positive.

“I will never ever leave you again,” his mother promised as a

surge of relief washed over him. It was now time to go back

home. A place where he would be safe. They thanked Muna

again, and gave her their address, telling her to come to them

if she ever had a problem. The stress and fatigue Ram had

been carrying all day finally got to him, and he slept the entire

way back home, dreaming of celebrating a quiet Dashain at

        home.
