Voting PSA: Weighing in on What Matters
Mavericks will create a “Rock the Vote” PSA to stress the importance of voting and
making your voice heard. Each child will spend time researching and preparing a
videotaped response to the following questions: Why is the right to vote important to

convince one person to vote, what would you say? We will then host a PSA

political strategist and tv commentator to discuss the importance and value of our

youth in elections. The PSA will be uploaded to all the chapter's social media sites
and moms will be encouraged to share it among their networks. Our children will
learn about the importance of voting and utilize their public speaking skills to
encourage others to do so.
First Aid Kit Assembly

November 14 Kids will build their own first aid kits, learn CPR protocols and updates on infection

control guidelines/safety from a registered nurse. This is virtual. Each kid will make

January 21st The Mavericks will partner with a local African American swim team (Carter High

CAC Natatorium Education School) where they will learn the basics of swim safety, a variety of swim strokes,
discuss swimming as a form of exercise. The goal is to ensure our kids can swim.

Chapter Black History Program
This cultural chapter activity will enable all grade groups and families in the chapter
February 8th Shanda Wright to come together and celebrate our African American heritage; This will be an
3pm educational opportunity to enhance the knowledge of black history and will allow all
MCL Theater Cultural of the children the opportunity to gain oratorical experience through a guest speaker

grade groups will have the opportunity to learn about HBCUs and the leaders who
paved the way for our education.

7pm group while celebrating HBCUs for African American Heritage night at the Dallas
American Airlines Social/Recreational Mavericks game. Our Jacks and Jills are encouraged to wear HBCU attire and display
