Election Night Watch Party & Pandemic Voices Archive
The senior teens will gather for a virtual watch party as the 2020 election results come in. There
will be election night trivia and bingo games to continually educate the teens on the importance

Via Zoom Education Before and after the election party the teens will provide an oral history submission for a project
Civic/Legislative
called "Pandemic Voices Archive" which will be housed at Texas Woman's University. They
will record a 1-2-minute video of themselves and family member(s) with thoughts/feelings pre-
election and another 1-2 minutes video after the projected winner is announced. This will give
our teens a voice during this historic election and cement their thoughts and feelings in history.
SAT/ACT College Prep, Essay Writing and Interviewing Skills

December 5 Shanda Wright Our Senior Teens will receive a full practice SAT or ACT test, confidential evaluation,
12 noon assessment, and recommendations will be provided. Additionally, the facilitator will provide
Via Zoom Education essay writing and interviewing tips to help prepare the Senior Teens for the college admissions
process.
Mock Trial
Kelly Turner Mock Trial for Teens (will need to partner with junior teens). Each teen will be assigned a role
January 23 rd in the trial (judge, jury, bailiff, witnesses) and they will act out the trial. May incorporate mock
2pm Education trail case/approach from YouTube. The objective is to teach the Senior Teens about the trial

Civic/Legislative process through role play. The teens will gain a better understanding of the legal and criminal
justice system.
Chapter Black History Program
This cultural chapter activity will provide the all grade groups and families in the chapter to

3pm opportunity to enhance the knowledge of black history and will allow all of the children the
MCL Theater Cultural opportunity to gain oratorical experience through on stage performances which highlights the
education of African Americans. The grade groups will have the opportunity to learn about
HBCUs and the leaders who paved the way for our education.

March 6 Fran Dillard Boat ride on Lake Lewisville with a DJ/music
2pm Teens will embark on a boat ride skimming over Lake Lewisville while listening to their
Lake Lewisville Social favorite tunes. This activity will create a laid back, recreational environment for our teens to

HBCU College Tour
Our Jacks and Jills will tour 2-3 HBCUs to provide Jr. Teens with exposure to the great history
Christie Smith of HBCUs and the educational options they offer.

April 9 -11 Education Throughout the weekend the teens will accumulate information to put together a weekly,
monthly, and annual budget for attending college inclusive of room, board, educational and
[Leadership
Development] extracurricular expenses. This budget will enable the teens to appreciate the true cost of
education in addition to the present and future value. Through panel discussions and interviews
[Financial literacy]
with current students and staff they will also learn about various philanthropic, social, civic, and
leadership opportunities available to them.
Black Family Day
As we closeout the programming year, all grade groups will participate in the amazing chapter

May 1 -2nd TBD activity where we honor our Jack & Jill families. We will host a weekend family campout to
3 - 9pm celebrate the year. The Father’s Auxiliary will barbecue; the grade groups will have camping
Twin Cove Park Cultural
Flower Mound, TX Social classes and we will have a Griot tell cultural stories by the campfire. This will be fun day
together celebrating our families, our new families as well as our graduating seniors and
mothers.
