On 22 July , 2021, the day began with a nightmare. Due to heavy rain, water began seeping into people's homes about 5 a.m., and
the water level was raised to 5 to 6 feet. The situation became extremely chaotic as time progressed; there was around 13 to 15 feet of
flood water, and many were trapped inside their homes. Chiplun's main market, as well as many stores, buildings' ground floors, and
the bus terminal, had submerged. When the floodwaters recede, the damage that was left behind was devastating. After seeing this
ruined situation the alumni and students of Govindrao Nikam College of Pharmacy led a campaign to help the flood affected people
in Chiplun and they adopted the strategies to involve more and more people in flood relief activity. When all were aware of the scale of
the destruction that resulted from flood, voluntarily came forward and joined the flood relief campaign. As a result of continued efforts
and the awareness campaign, each and every student, staff, alumni of Govindrao Nikam College of Pharmacy and their family and
friends contributed whatever was possible within their constraints to flood relief activities. As a fund raised upto 3 lakh, the college
students , NSS team and alumni from different places came to distribute the food essentials in the form of kits which included grains,
sugar, tea, salt, spices, oil, flour, mineral water, dry snacks and daily essentials like toothbrush and paste, washing and bathing soaps,
candles, matchbox, Dettol, sanitary napkins. The kits which are inclusive of nestogen, cloths and baby diapers were also supplied at
the children orphanage, some kits included cloths for men and women, towel, blankets. Certain kits were also given in the flood
affected Mahad region. The honorable chairman of Sahyadri Shikshan Sanstha, Shree. Shekharji Nikam sir appreciated this activity
which was initiated by Alumni and students of Govindrao Nikam College of Pharmacy.
