                        Two days International Symposium and Online Gurupoornima celebration

      A Two Day International Symposium on “Makeover of Cosmetics - Journey from Traditional to Contemporary” was hosted by MET
      Institute of Pharmacy (Degree), Mumbai on 16 th  and 17 th  July2021. The International Symposium included distinguished speakers
      from India, USA, Dubai, Singapore. Successful Alumni of METIOP were amongst the enthusiastic speakers. The sessions by all the
      speakers received appreciation from the audience, including students and faculty members from different pharmacy institutions. The
      program received overwhelming response with over 700 participants from all over India and 62 entries for the poster competition.
      The International Symposium had a panel of renowned speakers viz. Ms Anushka Nadkarni, Product Development and Formulation

      Scientist at Allure Labs, Pvt Ltd., Ms. Rupinder Rawat, vice president in Godrej consumer Pvt Ltd., Mr. Mohit Patwardhan, a registered
      patent attorney and regional legal counsel at alvogen India, Mr. Ram Surat Singh V.P. Operations Atak Helios Perfume &
      COSMETICS LLC, Dubai and Ms. Munira Loliwala Scent Design Associate with International Flavors and Fragrances (Greater Asia)
      Pvt Ltd, Singapore.
      The sessions consisted of ‘The lifecycle of Cosmetics Product’ covering overview of marketing, product development, formulation,
      packaging, QC and product launch, ‘Intricacies in formulation of Hair Cosmetics’ covering basics of hair coloring, hair protection and
      hair care regime. This session also gave an overview of ingredients used in various hair care products and what hair beautification

      /care procedures are required to change hair type and what are the side effects in doing the same. The topic ‘Role of IPR in cosmetics’
      highlighted multiple areas in cosmetic industry for application of patents, benefits and advantages of patents which would encourage
      students to apply for one, the concept and importance of trademark in simplified and lucid manner. ‘The evolution of lipsticks’ covering
      overview of evolution, product development, formulation, packaging, QC and marketing, The presentation covered evolution of lipsticks
      from 1930 till date adhering to the topic of the symposium. The talk was a perfect blend of history and chemistry. The session
      ‘Introduction to Perfumery’ took the audience through a journey of Perfumes and fragrances, with the history, science and art of

      Perfumery, emphasizing on how perfumes play a major role in today’s world. This session gave a brief understanding not only of the
      qualities required to be a good perfumer but also how to get into this industry with the various options available for students with a very
      healthy discussion on the business and science of perfumes, to conclude the day.
      GURU POORNIMA signifies the importance of a ‘Guru’ who plays various roles in our life. Online celebration of Guru Poornima brought
      out the impact of a Guru in a shisya's life. The program comprised of speeches and poems of teachers and students which gave an
      insight into a teacher’s perspective on learning. Also valuable points like ‘learning never stops over time’ were put forth. Whether it was
      singing, art or poems, our students didn’t leave any stone unturned. To conclude, the entire event embodied the spirit of Guru

      Poornima and captured the essence of our emotions which were portrayed beautifully
