National level Faculty Development Program on ‘Patenting in Pharmaceuticals’
National level three days virtual Faculty
Development Program (FDP) was organized
at NCRD’s Sterling Institute of Pharmacy
in association with Intellectual Property
Talent Search Examination on “Patenting in
Pharmaceuticals” from 15th to 17th July
2021. There was a huge response for FDP
and 193 participants from across the state of
Maharashtra and also from Goa, Gujarat,
Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamilnadu and
Telangana participated in this program. Dr
Rupesh Pingale, Principal of Sterling Institute
of Pharmacy and Convener
of programme delivered the welcome
address..

was a Chief Guest of the inaugural function.
He guided the participants about securing
ideas and emphasized the importance of the
patenting in the journey of pharmaceutical
research.
The FDP was conducted for three days and
included sessions on different topics viz.
types of IPR, patentability under section 3,
patenting in chemistry products as well as
herbal products, significance of patenting in
academic institutions.
The FDP provided the participants with insights on the relevance and the process of patenting from the industry and academic
perspective.
A rich pool of resource persons from Industry and Academia was invited to cover varied aspects of patenting in pharmaceutical
sciences. The speakers included Mr. Vijay Shivpuje, Co-founder, Pharma Literati; Ms. Priyanka Joshi, Senior Patent Associate, Patlex
Business Solutions; Dr. Sheetal Chopra Honorary course advisor, (IPTSE); Ms. Neha Raut, Assistant Professor, SKB College of
Pharmacy, Nagpur and Mr. Sandip Kale, Patent agent.
Participants were evaluated at the end of each day sessions, by conducting quiz. This FDP was coordinated by Dr Gouri Palsokar and
Mr Deepak Pokharkar. The program was concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr GouriPalsokar. Prof. Jyothi Menon, Dr Sonali
Askarkar and Prof. Lawanya Gupta conducted the technical sessions of the FDP.
