Design Thinking by Burnette Artcile Review
Creative Procedural Thinking focuses on the implementation, sequencing, execution and control of thought,
behaviour and production processes that lead to changing timing, technology and procedure to uncover
alternative outcomes. Creative Evaluative Thinking includes the elements of "judging, assessing, measuring, and
testing, progress towards intentional goals regarding a focal situation." Being creative means utilising, shifting, or
even contradicting certain values, criteria, and methods that are not typically applied, to gain an extraordinary
outcome. The last one, Creative Reflective Thinking can be interpreted as "remembering, assimilating, adapting,
accumulating, recalling, and applying prior experience." Reflective thinking depends on applying prior knowledge
and experience into current situations; while creativity depends on having a new interpretation of the
experiences, thus gaining new insights.
As conclusions, even though creative thinking and purposeful thought can be considered to be the opposite of
each other, however, both of them can be correlated to become good combination in critical thinking and
problem solving skills.
