Early 2023 I was talking to the provincial leader of CEF in KwaZulu Natal province in
South Africa, Ashby Kurian. He asked if I had ever seen a Hindu teacher proclaiming
that Jesus is the Lord, the Son of God, our Saviour. He had. One of the schools which has
an assembly once a week asked him for English literature as they do not have any books
to teach their children to read English, so he gave them devotional books. The teacher, a
Hindu, reads it aloud, declaring who Jesus is and all the children repeat it! We pray that the
truth of what they read will fall on good soil and that they will really grow in their saving

knowledge of who God is (1 Timothy 2:3-4).
In just over a year serving as the national leader for CEF in South Africa, I have already
had three contacts with people who saw a devotional book, either at their church or from
a child who got one. These contacts grow into the training of new volunteers bringing

the Gospel weekly to boys and girls who have not heard the Good News! The joy of these
volunteers in knowing that they will be equipped with good literature to use in their
ministries to bring the Gospel to children is a joy to my heart.
