Spring 2019
LANSDOWNE NEWS
Welcome
By Lisa Forbes

From 1 July 2019 the new Aged Care Quality Standards came into
effect. Each Standard says what you, the resident, can expect. As
an aged care provider we have to meet an “outcome” for you
and demonstrate how we are meeting that outcome at our Elsa admiring the lights at Vivid
Accreditation Audits by the Aged Care Quality & Safety
Commission. There are eight standards, and each one is about an
aspect of care that contributes to resident’s safety, health and
wellbeing:
1. Consumer dignity and choice
2. Ongoing assessment and planning with consumers
3. Personal care and clinical care
4. Services and supports for daily living
5. Organisation’s service environment
6. Feedback and complaints
7. Human resources
8. Organisational governance Ann and Nola enjoying Vivid
There won’t be any distinguishable changes from 1 July in how
we deliver care to our residents, however over time you will see
a greater focus on us encouraging our residents to make day‐to‐
day choices so they have control over their lives and us focusing
on our residents goals, preferences as well as their needs. While
we currently have strong partnerships in place between our
residents, families and staff, there will be greater emphasis
placed on these partnerships under the new Quality Standards. If
you have any questions please let me know.
Lansdowne Gardens has always taken the opportunity to thank
the hard‐working and dedicated staff through social activities and Mary and Warren
a reward and recognition program. Congratulations to Chiyoko
Takeuchi who won our Standing Ovation Award for July and
Jackie Engelmann for August.
With warm wishes,
Lisa Forbes, Clinical Compliance and Education Manager
