8. RECOMMENDATIONS

It is necessary to make a few recommendations.

 Uranium mining companies should be encouraged to continue to keep
the level of radiation to a minimum.

 The National Radiation Protection Authority in the Ministry of Health and
Social Services should be strengthened.

 More Nuclear Scientists should be trained at higher institutions

 The Government should make arrangements for the training of Nuclear
Technicians (different from nuclear scientists) at appropriate technical
institutions.

 The Postgraduate Nuclear Science Programme of the University of
Namibia should be supported especially with the provision of research
equipment and staff.

 Efforts should be made to prevent the trafficking or theft of radioactive
materials.
