His hand sank as he stretched out to reach the jug of water. What did all this
mean? What have they found out? He hasn’t talked to anyone about what he was
doing. Did Dieter Stormann look in the envelopes with photographs?
Then it dawned on him. Someone might have looked in his cases in the room,
even though he carefully remembered to lock the door. But what could they
derive from that?
Feeling small and tired, and more fearful than he had ever been before.
The door flew up, and a little man with black hair and glasses came towards him,
until he stood in front of him. Despite his modest height, he radiated with power.
Dressed uniform with a number of emblems and medals attached to the chest, he
stared a spiky gaze into Uno. It felt like the eyes stung him.
The man grabbed Uno’s powerless hand and presented himself as interrogator
Verner Borge.
After the introduction he walked over to the sink and gently rubbed and
washed hands. Then he sat down on the other side of the small table, facing Uno.
"It's a very responsible task you've been awarded."
His mocking tone couldn’t be misunderstood. Uno felt it.
"We have observed that there are irregularities in the reports you make. Either
you are messing up your files or you are hiding something?”
"I haven’t done anything wrong," Uno said weepy.
Blood was stuck on his shirt, and his head droned and hurt. He sensed how the
energy and power flowed out of him. And how his heart hammered in his chest,
as if it were time consuming.
"Do You know what. Take a glass of water." Said the man in a friendly unfriendly
tone.
Uno forced microscopic swig down his throat. It hurt when he sank.
"Now, as You and I sit here. Two adults in the middle of the night, would it not be
a noble idea to start the conversation, maybe with something constructive? "
Again, the intense look was stuck on Uno.
In the next couple of minutes, Uno repeated his claim that he had done nothing
wrong, and didn’t know what they were talking about.
"You have nothing that you think is relevant to talk about?" Borge asked.
Feverishly shook Uno on his head.
