 Seungdong Presbyterian Church was established by Samuel Foreman Moore near the
 current Lotte Hotel, under the name of “Gondanggol Church” in June, 1893. It was moved
 to its current location in 1905. Missionary Samuel Moore, who arrived in Seoul in 1892,
 was very interested in education. He ran a primary school in Gondanggol and preached the
 gospel with passion.
 At that time, there was a small stream flowing near Gondanggol, and, Baekjungs, meaning
 butchers lived together there. We can see how much he loved the poor and lowly people   “Youndong Church in an
