EATING AND DRINKING IN THE SUKKAH
The Shulchan Aruch summarizes the basic obligations of living in the sukkah that are included in the concept of teishvu k’ein
taduru.

How is the mitzvah of dwelling in the sukkah fulfilled? One should eat, drink (and sleep and spend time – Tur)
and live in the sukkah all seven days both during the day and at night, similar to how one lives in his house during
the rest of the year. For all of these seven days, one makes one’s house temporary and one’s sukkah permanent.
How so? His nice vessels and sheets and drinking utensils, such as bowls and cups, should be in the sukkah but
his cooking utensils (after the meal) such as pots and dishes should be placed outside the sukkah. The lamp
should be in the sukkah, but if the sukkah was very small, he should place it outside the sukkah.
Rema: One mustn’t perform any disgraceful activities in the sukkah so that mitzvot will not be degraded in his
eyes.
