WHAT IS THE HALACHA IF IT IS RAINING ON THE FIRST NIGHT?
Is one obligated to eat in the sukkah if it rains on the first night of Sukkot? This issue was first mentioned by the third opinion
quoted in the Ran, and is later disputed by the Shulchan Aruch and Rema. Their opinions appear to be consistent with their
different understandings of the comparison of the obligation of the first night to the first night of Pesach.

Shulchan Aruch, Orach Chaim 639:5
If rain fell, one may enter one’s house. From when is one permitted to leave? When drops are falling to such an
extent that it would ruin even a dish of beans [which is not ruined so easily].
Rema: This is all specifically on the other days or nights of the festival, but on the first night one must eat a k’zayit
in the sukkah, even if it is raining, and one should recite Kiddush in the sukkah in order to say [the blessing of]
Shehechiyanu on the sukkah.
