With regard to children, the Shulchan Aruch writes that it is worthwhile to bring them to shul to hear the
Megilla. However, the Mishna Berura warns that one should ensure that they don’t disturb others listening
to the Megilla.

The Halacha of a Megilla Missing Words and a Person who
Missed a Few Words During the Reading
If a few words or verses were omitted from the Megilla when it was written, the Gemara rules that the Megilla
is still kosher, on condition that the majority of the Megilla is written and the ba’al korei (the reader) reads
the missing words orally. The Ran cites the Rashba who adds that if the missing section is at the beginning
or end of the Megilla, even a small amount would invalidate the Megilla. These rulings are quoted by the
Shulchan Aruch and Rema.
