“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well,
if one has not dined well.”
——Virginia Woolf 'A Room of one's Own'
One of the most important lessons to learn when living in a different culture is to
make use of the local ingredients and find yourself home with the recreated
homeland foods. You can always discover substitutes in your local markets. Never
underestimate your potential in cooking.
Whilst you maintain your connection with home through those familiar foods, it is
also worthwhile to make a difference. Sometimes you may feel like something
novel, something you have barely tried, something exclusive to where you are.
In the next section, Iet's immerse ourselves in the local foods and reward your
tastebuds with another kind of pleasure.
