MILITARY CAREER PART 1
At the age of 19years my grandfather joined the South African Defence force
(SAAF) as an Airman. This was the start of his 40 years career serving his
country with pride. He worked his way up the ranks to becoming Warrant Officer
Class1 in 2000.
Sport played a part during these years too, he participated in Table Tennis and
Bowls later. The discipline, team spirit, endurance, physical and mental fitness
all contributed and shaped his outlook on his Military Career.
Warrant Officer Class 1 R. Greyvenstein, further referred to as “WO”, joined the
South African Air Force on 07 January 1980.
After intensive training in various Technical Disciplines, WO Rick Greyvenstein
qualified as an Electronic Weapons & Communications Officer.
