Around 1936, a photographer stood atop the Governor Hotel in downtown Olympia and took this picture of the
  snow-covered old Capitol building. The Romanesque style building was constructed of stone in 1891. It first

served as the Thurston County Courthouse, then as the State Capitol building, and after much renovation, today
                               serves as offices for the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
