The  two  CSEC  subjects  with  the  highest  entries  continue  to  be  English  A  with 3,744 entries  and
               Mathematics  with 3,655 entries.

               5.2     CAPE May-June 2017 Results

               The May-June 2017 sitting of the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) shows that
               eighty-four (84) candidates made up of 37 males (44.1%) and 47 females (56.0%) registered for 33 of
               the 67 subject units comprised of  25  Unit  1 and 22  Unit 2 subjects offered by CXC  at the CAPE
               level.  The candidates registered for the May-June 2017 sitting represent a 23.5% (16) increase from
               the 2016 sitting.

               Candidates  from  six  centres  registered  for  346  subject  units  for  the  May-June  2017  sitting  which
               represent 37.8% (95) more than 2016 with 251.  Of the 346 registered units, 281 (81.2%) received a
               grade.  Ninety point eight  percent  (90.8%) of the 281 graded  entries  earned  Grades  I-V  which  is
               considered  a  satisfactory  level  of  performance  at  the  CAPE level.   This  figure  represents  a  3.6%
               decrease when compared to the 2016 sitting.

               For  the  May-June  2017,  2016  and  2015  sitting,  one  hundred  percent  of  the  unit  entries  for  eight
               subjects received Grades I–V.  These subject units are: Accounting Unit 2, Applied Mathematics Unit
               1, Economics Unit 2, Environmental Science Unit 1, Management of Business Unit 1, Management of
               Business Unit 2, Spanish Unit 1 and Tourism Unit 1.

               Four subjects displayed notable improvements for 2017 compared to the 2016 sitting.  Chemistry Unit
               2 received 87.5% in 2017 compared to 66.7% in 2016. One hundred percent of the entries for Applied
               Mathematics Unit 2, Literatures in English Unit 2 and Sociology Unit 1  received Grades I-V in
               2017  compared  to  75%,  0%  and  91.7%,  for  the  aforementioned  subjects  respectively  for  the  2016
               sitting.

               For the May-June 2017 sitting twelve subjects exhibited a decrease in the percentage of Grades I-V
               compared to 2016.  These subjects are Accounting Unit 1, Chemistry Unit 1, Communication Studies
               Unit 1, Economics Unit 1, Environmental Science Unit 2, Integrated Mathematics Unit 1, Law Unit 2,
               Physics Unit 1, Physics Unit 2, Pure Mathematics Unit 1, Pure Mathematics Unit 2 and Spanish Unit
               2.

               Four subjects maintained the same grade for the 2017 and 2016 sitting. These subjects are: History
               Unit 1, History Unit 2, Law Unit 1, and Literatures in English Unit 1.

               For  the  May-June  2017  sitting  three  subjects  exhibited  a  slight  improvement  in  the  percentage  of
               Grades  I-V  compared  to 2016.    These  subjects are  Biology  Unit  1,  Biology  Unit  2  and  Caribbean
               Studies Unit 1.

               For the May-June 2017 sitting the following two subject units had candidate entries for the first time:
               Geography Unit 1 and Geography Unit 2.

               The two CAPE subjects with the highest entries continue to be Caribbean Studies with 51 entries and
               Communication Studies with 44 entries.

               5.3      CCSLC June 2017 Results

               No student registered to sit CCSLC subjects for the June 2017 session.
