Kxuendilure.
(I) Administrative 'iurvices* Viio increased expenditure here
is fully explained by the Adviser, I regard this as inevit-
able in view of the expanding activities of the Bahrain Govern-
ment-o
(2) I'ublic Health. I sincerely trust that the estimate of
I(s.6,000/- for Anti-I.'r.larial I.ecsurea under this head will be
greatly exceeded. I have made it ray business to ensure that
a comprehensive programme of work for the elimination of
mosquito-breeding' areas is inaugurated rnd the Adviser has
undertaken to provide funds generously as they may be required.
Otherwise this head oi «Ko kiujot, in conjunction with the
Kediccl share of the r.f.D. budget, is one on which Bahrain
may congratulate itself.
(3) Public Protection. Wo particular comments. Equipment
charges are high owing to the increased size of the Tolice
Force. I have considered whether, in view of the increased
Police strength, a part of die llutur Force might be reduced, but
have come to the conclusion that this . ouLi uj an error in
policy, at any rate for some years to come.
(4) Education. As you are aware, I«.'r• Vallance has recently
visited Bahrain to conduct a critical examination of education
in Bahrain. This report is expected shortly and will almost
certainly involve increased expenditure, It is futile to
attempt to forecast how gr> . this increase will be, but it
should be anticipated that the Budget Allotment will be exceeded.
