Muhammad Ismail Kavrab, who remained as head of the

Municipality for moat of the year, was finally removed after a
large number of complaints had been voiced against him and he was
succeeded by Sayid Muhammad Siadat, a local merchant«

The Bushire garrison was commanded by Captain Trabrasl
until the Allied ultimatum was presented to the Iranian Govern

ment on the 25th August® Lieut .-Colonel Malik Maori then assumed
charge of all military forces in the Gulf Porta area but, on the

appointment of a military governor on the 16th September, Captain
Trabraal resumed local command of the garrison® In October
Captain Trabrasi was removed under escort to Shiraz on a charge
of ourruptlon and was succeeded by Captain Yusuf Noori®

The composition of this force - three oompanloo of
infantry and one M,G.detachment equipped with three maxim guns -

remained the same throughout the year and no reinforcements were
sent from Shiraz to meet the possibility of an Allied landing®
lack of recruits and desertions considerably reduced the strength
of the garrison and it is probable that at the end of the year it

numbered less than 300 M.C.Os.and men® Between January and July
some 800 men were conscripted and most of them sent to Shiraz
for tralnlng/but after this reorultment oeaeed entirely®

Instances were reported of attempts to arrest men who refused to
attend the offloe of the Recruiting Officer being met with armed
                resistance®

The garrison demonstrated mild activity prior to and
during the Allied advanoe into Iran® Detachments of troope were

posted along the ooaet from Hellelah to Bushire town and three
poate were quartered in the villages eurrounding the Reeidenoy®
The movement! of British subjeots were not, however, interfered
