                              After compliments:-
                                    V/e hove now had an opportunity of examining the draft
                              agreement, of on oil concession over the remaining areas of
                              land and waters of our islands which arc not included in
                              the concession granted to the Bahrain Petroleum Company.

                              Before considering the matter further, v/e must point out
                              to you that 1 lore ore certain condi-cions and descriptions
                               in this draft agreement which require alteration.
                                    Article 1. Tnis article should incluae a precise
                               description of all our islands mentioning them by name in
                               the agreement.

                                    Article 2. It should be slated whether the seventy-
                               five years is to be reckoned according to Hejira or
                               Gregorian calendar.
                                    Article 11(a).   V/c do not agree to the conditions
                               proposed in this urticle, but v/e demand that the royalty
                               shall be Rs.3/U/- per ton and that the company should pay
                               the same taxes os the Bahrain Petroleum Company pays, such
                               as Municipal taxes, motor taxes etc.   V/e will exempt the

                               company from customs duties which are not paid by the
                               Bahrain Petroleum Company.
                                    Article 15(a)    In order to preserve the amenities of
                               our capital and the toy/n of Muharraq it is necessary to keep
                               open areas around these two towns and within these  areas
                               v/e cannot allow tho orootion of refineries or storage tanks
                               or any works which would spoil the appearance of the towns
                               or comfort of our peoplo.
