The Aslepios plaque:
Close to the structure of the probable sea tower at the entrance of the
channel leading to the emporion of Oala'at al-Bahrain, a small bronze
plaque was found depicting AEEAHIIIOEE, the Gree god of medicine
and healing. Part of the name [A٤gAHIIIO is visible on the right
hand side of the 3rd to 2nd century B.C. plaque. The original plaque is
presently under restoration while a replica is on display at the Bahrain
Archaeological Museum at ala'at al-Bahrain. The discovery of the
Aslepios votive plaque might prove not to be something of a small
signiifcance for ancient Tylos since it might be the proof we need, which
will allow us to propose that on the island there was an Aslepieion, a
healing sanctuary of Gree god Aslepios.
The copy of the Aslepios plaque, which is currently displayed at the Bahrain Archaeological
museum at Oala'at al Bahrain. According to the museum notice, the original is under restoration.
