Our organization is working toward sustaining the Institute of Medicine recommendation of having 80% of
the nursing
workforce hold a baccalaureate degree or higher. This, the IOM reported, is associated with lower
morbidity and mortality. Managers wishing to hire a non-BSN nurse follow a special approval process.
Of the 505 GNs hired in FY 23, 111 were ADNs. Of these, 46 were already health system employees in
non-nursing roles.
