NEXTSTEP 360

"NextStep" is a project that came into action in 2006, which prepare the youth for a career after

graduation and empower them to succeed in their occupation.

Peradeniya undoubtedly is one of the best universities in Sri Lanka. It has stood proud yet humble,

nurturing the country's youth, generating more than 10,000 undergraduates a year to the national

grid from its nine excellent faculties. Alarmed by the fact that there is considerable competition in the

job market, the need for an innovative approach to bridge the skill gap of graduates was perceivable.

Hence "NextStep" came into action in 2006, through which we wanted to prepare youth for a career

after graduation and empower them to succeed in their occupation.

In light that COVID 19 has triggered one of the worst

job crisis ever, and having understood that not

everybody engages in public/private jobs yet seeks

higher education or is interested in entrepreneurship

after graduation, an immediate expansion was

mandatory. Therefore, we decided to upgrade

"NextStep" to "NextStep360" to address the issues

regarding Entrepreneurship, Jobs, and Academic fields.

The total program was conducted under three phases,

including several sessions each.
