MUSIC IS THE UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE OF MANKIND
The Department of Music ensures that students learn something new every day. From time
to time, video tutorials, lyrics of songs, descriptions of ‘taals’ and ‘raags’ are shared with
students. To learn music, the knowledge of ‘swara’ is paramount. Through power point
presentations, detailed classification of ‘swaras’ are taught.
In the month of May, the planning of the school song began. The choir was formed by selecting
singers from different classes to exhibit their talent. A digital audio track was composed and
broadcasted. ‘Hunar’, a two-day virtual event was also held in June that showcased the talent of our
students LIVE for the very first time. Online music and Tabla classes were introduced to build the
basic foundation of Hindustani Classical Music. These were full of learning and relaxation. ‘Raags’
like ‘yaman, bhopali and bhairav’ were taken up. Students were trained by teaching ‘Sargamgeet’.
They were recommended to practice the lessons with the help of different musical applications
like ‘Sur Sadhak’ and ‘Tanpura droid’. In Indian classical music ‘taal’ plays a very important role.
Students are taught different ‘taals’ like ‘rupak, jhaptaal and teen taal’. Notations of
composition and videos are given making learning easier and interesting. The core group
presented the ‘Shabad’ ‘anadbhaya’ in ‘raag sorath’ along with the school song on
Independence Day. The Department of Music is striving to provide students with the best
music training and helping them achieve their dreams of becoming musicians one day.
