DANCE IS THE JOY OF MOVEMENT AND THE HEART OF LIFE
The Department of Dance commenced the e-classes in an innovative way wherein conversations were held
with students regarding how they felt about their studies with respect to an unusual mode of learning due
to the pandemic. They were given a variety of choices about what they wanted to learn with a motive to give them
a sense of relief and happiness in what they do. Introduction of folk dance ensures that students feel better
mentally and physically. During the e-classes, students have to sit long hours facing screens making them feel
stressed out and lethargic. To make sure students don’t face any knee problems ‘Tatkar’ was practiced by them to
stay fit and agile. They are made to perform ‘Chakkar’ which builds stamina. The classes are made interactive with
‘Gad Bhav’,that is, short story recital. An activity was undertaken where a ballad was prepared on the theme of
pollution in which students participated enthusiastically. The main agenda behind the ballad performance
was to create awareness amongst the students and make them sensitive towards the environment. A hope dance on
the song ‘Phir nayi shururat karlenge’ made the students hopeful about the future and helped them alleviate stress.
YOGA IS THE JOURNEY OF THE SELF,THROUGH THE SELF, TO
THE SELF
Evening yoga classes at MJKPS provide an extra edge in terms of physical and mental health. The students of grades
VI to XII are encouraged to practice yoga daily with their family to inculcate a healthy lifestyle and increase
immunity. The students actively participate in the sessions and perform ‘yoga’ and meditation. Students are
encouraged to take part in Fit India Program proposed by the CBSE. Sessions were also organised for the faculty
members to de-stress. On the occasion of Independence Day, the young ‘yogis’ of our school presented a heartfelt
Yoga performance on ‘Bharat ki Beti’ to encourage the girl child.
