Twinkle added that there were some good times camping
and before that, a trip to Toronto.
The first week of school saw a quiet Twinkle, learning
quickly and keeping her head down. She was a quick
student and would have no trouble, especially in math
and science. Mirabel had done lots of reading practice
and was very comfortable with all her subjects.
One day at recess, a large boy named Izzie, who liked
to tease and push decided to bother Twinkle. He pushed
her down when the teachers weren't looking. Twinkle
looked as though she might cry, and got pink in the face.
Mirabel ran over to help her up, worried that Twinkle
might be hurt, but Twinkle just stood up and walked
away. Later she spoke to Mirabel about it.
"Is that what you mean about getting angry? You just
forgive right away?"
"Well, no. I probably would have said angry words
and maybe cried too," confessed Mirabel.
"We had to hide those sorts of feelings on Andalap,"
whispered Twinkle, partly because she did not want to
reveal the secret of where she had lived for the first four
years of her life.
