Everyone expressed appreciation for the story and for

the beauty of this strong white creature. He invited them

to approach the flock quietly and slowly while he flew

over to let the other birds know who was coming. As

they carefully approached, a small pelican popped up and

flew over to check on these strangers. His voice was

           more like a clarinet.

"Hello hello, my name is Joe. I have webbed feet and

           not one toe."

"Well, well, well I'm Mirabel. And quick as a winkle,

           this is Twinkle."

Joe jumped up and down, and flapped his wings, so

happy that he had found a friend to make funny rhymes

           with.

"You may not know it, but here I'm the only poet. All
the time, I talk in rhyme."

He came and sat at her feet and let her smooth his
           feathers very gently.
