The adults asked permission to take movies and
photos. But it was getting dark, and the humans had to
get back to the cabins near the pelican lake, where they
would spend the night. Mirabel and Twinkle tossed a
coin for who would sleep in the top bunk. Twinkle won
the toss, and Mirabel was not too sorry.
The next day there was an early start to board the
plane. Mirabel and Twinkle were sad to say goodbye to
the pelicans, especially to Joe, and to be heading home.
However, Gallina gathered them all in a group, and said
that she had a suggestion. Since the smoke was still pretty
thick in Kelowna, she wondered if they would like to fly
up to Glacier Bay to have a look at the glaciers. All the
adults were delighted. Nobody was in a hurry to get back
to work.
"Alaska here we come!" said Gallina. Barry just
looked at her with his black eyes and seemed to think she
was wonderful. He loved her, thought the people who
noticed.
