The Custom House operation will include the following:
• Government procedures.
• Nationalization of goods.
• Import and export documents processing facility.
This is a government department operating inside the terminal facility. The
advantage of having the custom house inside the terminal is because it will
speed up the process of import and export and will facilitate and optimize
the customer delivery process.
10. Projected Terminal Operating Description
The new enterprise will be able to use the existing barge loading and unloading
equipment located at the ANNP port and to transfer the containers from the
barge on to a truck which will then transport them to the container terminal.
Imported containers or containers for export, will enter the site where their
documents will be processed and then will continue to their destinations. This
terminal will provide a variety of services.
Imported containers will be delivered to customers located in Asuncion as well
as in the rest of the country. The logistics are to be managed by the terminal
office.
The export operation consists of the consolidation of the containers with the
products to be exported. Some will be individual containers and others will
consist of several, up to dozens at a time, including grain and meat. From the
export area in the terminal, those containers will be trucked to the ANNP port
and loaded on to the barges. The operation will be similar to the management of
imported containers, but in reverse.
A. Container Terminal and Empty Container Operation
The container terminal operation will consist of:
• Management of importing and exporting containers.
• Container distribution in the country.
• Container agglomeration for export.
• Container deconsolidation, storage and distribution.
• Management and storage for machinery, parts, chemicals, etc.
• Empty containers’ management and storage.
• Special management: meat storage and export.
B. Container Deconsolidation Operation
Imported containers will be trucked to the container terminal to be
deconsolidated and the products will be stored at the existing storage
facility. From there the products will be distributed to the importers. This
operation will be a modern distribution center. The storage building has
140,000 square feet.
